A message from the Team

Central to our journey is a steadfast conviction of the transformative potential of innovation as a tool offering unprecedented opportunities for advancement and global progress; notwithstanding, with this potential for transformation, comes a profound responsibility to safeguard democratic values and Human Rights.

As algorithms increasingly permeate decision-making processes across various sectors, it becomes imperative to confront and mitigate inherent biases that may permeate these systems because ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability in the development, deployment, and regulation of new technologies is paramount to preserving the integrity of our legal and ethical frameworks.

As a fifth-year Law student at the University of Pavia, with a background at Collegio Ghislieri and IUSS, I am currently delving deep into the realm of impact of New Technologies on criminal proceedings for my Master's thesis and I find myself constantly immersed in a world where the lines between Human Rights and technological advancements blur intriguingly. New technologies hold immense potential to revolutionize various aspects of our lives, including judicial proceedings, yet, as I navigate through the intricate web of legal frameworks and ethical considerations, I cannot help but ponder the implications of integrating such technology into our justice systems.

One of the fundamental pillars of any democratic society is the right to a fair trial: it's indeed a cornerstone of Justice the fact of ensuring to individuals to be treated impartially and provided with ample opportunity to present their case. However, as AI algorithms become increasingly intertwined with legal processes, questions arise regarding the preservation of this Fundamental Right.
